Prepaid loads have one year validity, regardless of amount

Updated:  May 26, 2018

Wow!!! This news is not just good, it's amazing!

Currently,  GLOBE, SMART & SUN mobile subscribers are enjoying the 1 year validity period of P300 minimum load purchased.

From the screenshots below, I bought GLOBE regular load of P300 from GCASH valid for 1 year from April 25, 2018 and got 35 free texts.  I sent PASALOAD to two (2) recipients leaving me P2.50, still valid until April 25, 2019.  👍

After January 5, 2018 + 6 months grace period, any amount of regular load bought will expire after one year from date of purchase.  Just make sure to reload before expiration so that old balance will add up to the new balance.  Affordable right?

NOTES:

  1. Promo loads still have expiration.

The expiry date of unused prepaid credits of mobile users will be extended to one year from date of top-up.
The JMC states that prepaid loads, regardless of amount, will have one-year validity, and this will take effect on January 5, 2018.
“We came up with a realistic solution… the one-year expiry date is very safe for consumers because that one year assures that they will be able to use the load,” OIC Rio said.
Those prepaid credits purchased for promos and other services with specific period of use, as approved by NTC and DTI, are excluded from the coverage.
“With this circular, President Rodrigo Duterte hopes to give the public a gift this holiday season that everyone can truly benefit from in the coming years,” DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said in a statement.
The Joint Memorandum Circular was signed by DICT Officer-in-Charge Eliseo Rio, Jr., NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba and DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez.
